While I haven’t really played World of Warcraft in a few months, I did log on recently to finish those holiday achievements that I didn’t do last year.  After knocking out Love is in the Air and the Lunar Festival (with 30 minutes to spare), I finally finished that meta-meta-achievement What A Long Strange Trip It’s Been.

In the mail I then received the following letter.

With the drums of war pounding in the distance, it is easy for the denizens of Azeroth to forget all that life has to offer.

You, on the other hand, have maintained the dignity of the good races of Azeroth with your ability to remember what we fight for. To not celebrate our victories is another form of defeat. Remeber that well, Reveler.

And, that’s it.  I’m done.  I haven’t really played WoW recently anyways, and it is a huge time sink.  But, I had to finish that achievement.  Call it a crowning achievemnet, I guess (not that it requires a lot of skill to get, just time).

WoW was fun.  I started the summer before freshman year, I believe.  Three years on a single, focused character, Eloc (now Painkillers).  Just over 120 days played.  That’s 4 months!  Playing through BC and now WotLK was exciting and wonderful, but it is time to move on.  I’ll be playing Pokemon next weekend, and DCUO after that.  Maybe I’ll return someday, possibly when Cataclysm comes out.  Farewell, Azeroth.
